There was a guy here in Arlington Va selling his black on black, 28k mi, mint 96 C4(1 year newer than the one you're looking at) for $39k OBO. I'd offer the guy the January price of $35k for his 95 and show him a print out or tell him a printed out listing of cars on cars.com of similar 95's that are in the price range.

Just a thought. The guy in Arlington had his listed on Rennlist for a while and the PCA Mart on the web. I almost looked at it, but decided a black car would be too hard for a semi-lazy guy like me to keep clean, and silver was my first choice. I was very close to buying his 96 as it was primo!!!

Good luck. You will love this car!

A year ago, I paid a grand less for my black 96 with 60K on it. Not many differences from a 95 (VarioRam on my 96); others can tell much more than I. I came from a 964 and this is, for the most part, a dazzling ride. Two problems: the carbon issue (ask previous owner if poss. - at such low miles, this may be a short tripper OR a weekend Italian tuneup car - hopefully the latter) and...looking at withering prices...now I want a TT!

I bought the C4 from Arlington, and yes, it is in mint condition. I had a long search, but worth the wait.

Personally, I think this car is more overpriced than the other posts. This is a car that will need a detailed PPI. Remember that everytime one inspects a car, one may or may not find everything wrong with the car. Sometimes a car with a bad clutch will escape a PPI, only to be discovered by the new owner in the upcomming first month(s) of ownership. Replacement is a $2500 bill. True, major systems will be evaluated, but you need to determine very accurately how much the initial cost will be as mistakes are made. The other factor is that this car has electrical harness questions and the engine was updated in the 1996 model year. Both problems will substantially affect sale, resale value, performance and service reliability of the car. If the car is truly "cherry" and "needs nothing" and just had its 30K service, the wholesale price is at least 5K less than the asking price by this person. Be sure you go over service records, decide how much you have to pay out in initial service and take that off your bottom line first, not later. Good luck.

I think it's in the right range, IF it's in beautiful shape. It needs a PPI, of course, but so does any other car you'll look at. A bad clutch could turn up in any used car. These things are inherent risks in buying any used car. The wiring harness is not an isue -- either it has already been replaced, or it gets replaced under warranty -- free. The varioram that came in with the '96 boosts mid-range torque, but the '95 is every bit as quick if you use the gearbox. One thing I would check, however, is the build date. The '95 model year was very long -- Jan '94 through 'July '95 -- some '95s are more than a year newer/older than others. I might pay a little more for a late '95 than a very early one.

There are some real bargains out there, but a really nice car is still worth paying more for if what you want is a really nice car.

Last year I bought my late production Black/saddle 95 C4 for 34K with 80K miles. The whole car is in excellent condition, a few paint chips from the miles but mechanically very tight. It seems the market for 993s has dropped over the last year so 39K might be a bit high.
