Default What type of glue for re-attaching paper label?

The paper label on the passenger side door sill under the door latch on my car is peeling up and I'd say upwards of 40% detached all around.

What sort of adhesive is recommended for re-attaching this to the painted body? I don't want to remove it and I'm aware that if I use the wrong glue it could soak into the label and look like garbage or damage it in other ways, or the paint underneath.

This might be an OCD basic question to most but it's important to me.

Thanks!!! Alex

Hmm, Ok. Perhaps spray that onto a Q-tip then apply it that way to the back of the edges that are separated from the paint?

A very light dusting of the spray- make sure it does not get on the face- cleans up easily with mineral spirits

Don’t recall seeing a sticker there. What is it for? Using adhesive never looks quite right when it dries. Usually a factory sticker will have a part number on it somewhere - you may want to try and order a new one.

No idea what the sticker is for. Maybe something temporary used in the building process? I don’t have it on my car. Don’t be offended but it looks like crap - I’d get rid of it.

Edit: PM M. Schneider on this forum - he seems to know a lot about the build processes at Porsche. He may know what that sticker was for.

What information does your sticker provide?

Weird, I've seen it a great many 993s over the years. I would love to replace it with a new one if available from Porsche.

I think I'll go ahead and remove it but keep that picture and keep the label in the car's documentation I have. If it's vehicle-specific I'm sure I can have a local print/sign shop make a reproduction for me that will look new to attach there.

Well, a quick search on google reveals that Porsche put these on mid 80's - late 90's cars on the passenger jamb. Speculation on what it was for (shipping/assembly label?) but consensus is it wasn't intended to last as it is paper based and once wet it deteriorates. It contains a partial VIN underneath.

Interestingly, I scanned the sticker above with a barcode scanner and it reads: 099173226561 which appears to be a variation of the numbers printed below it.

Great info, thanks!!!! Very interesting there is a VIN partial under it.

My car has nearly 80K on it and it looks to be the same material as the options label under the trunk lid, so it probably wasn't made to be temporary and just is what it is.
