Hey Mike,

I don't think it's necessarily the Pentosin, considering that 964s use ATF, and their rack seals fail, too. Perhaps a flawed design? Then again, maybe the Pentosin is causing the seals to fail earlier? My subjective impression is that 993s are experiencing rack seal failures at much lower miles than 964s. Suppose this could also be caused by a change to a lower-bid supplier, as opposed to change of fluid??

Speaking of things that shouldn't need replacing (at least not until the car has a lot of miles), have you seen the current thread "Front Feels Bouncy"? Talk about having to spend money on upkeep, that should be going towards upgrades. Those A-arms are frighteningly expensive.
