Default Mystery Part

Can anyone identify this part? I have 2 of them in a box provided by the PO. I have no idea where they go or what they are for. There is a rubber flapper inside of the plastic housing. The car is a '96 993TT.

Well that make sense since they were in the same box as the rear seatbelts and seat hardware. I removed the DAS roll bar and reinstalled the seatbelts this past weekend. I'm surprised that I didn't catch that when the side panels were off. I guess I need to take the panel off again to put these back where they belong. What's the downside of leaving them off? Thanks for the help.

The air does not get directed properly to the vent above. I would image it would blow on the panel, but then that is what it is doing now with the DAS bar in there in my car. No big deal really.
