Coilover Install - Required Hardware?
I'm about to have the suspension refreshed and planning to go with KW V1 coilovers. Everything on this car is original from 1997 with 88K miles, so I'm looking for a bit of advice from those who have already been down this road. Do the V1s come with their own upper mounts or do they utilize the existing Porsche strut/shock upper mounts? If I need to utilize the existing upper mounts, does it make sense to order new units based on age/miles? I'm having the coilovers installed while the shop is replacing all the suspension bushings with Elephant RS style rubber.
As always - appreciate the knowledge transfer.

KW V1’s/V3’s reuse (or purchase new) the top hats. I reused (about 73K miles when I did the suspension 2 years back). When I finally get around to replacing the rear arms I’ll do the top hats with new at that time. I’d lean towards new. If only because it seems every other rubber part on the car is aging/aged out.
Do think about the next steps regarding ride height and (especially KT) alignment!

The Coilover kits tend to be complete with bump-stops if the configuration requires them.
Exact replacement top hats do not need to be dealer parts, save some coin:
See JP Group Classic parts on this page:
https://993servicerepair.blogspot.co...web-sites.html
You will also need to replace the 16 all steel prevailing torque nuts that attach the hats to the body noted on this page:

Hope this helps,
Andy

Appreciate the feedback - I’m going to order new top mounts. I have to admit I’m having sticker shock - at full retail the KWs are running $500 more than the PSS10. Are people paying full retail for this stuff?

I recently installed the V1s, coil overs in general are pretty expensive. As mentioned above, you reuse or buy new mounts. I didn't want to buy shocks/springs, do the work and then be disappointed in the height. I looked at a lot of set ups of shocks/springs but it was too hard to judge. I also didn't think it was a worth the extra money for a spirited street driving car to opt for the V3 dampening adjustment option. My car rides nice and tight and made such a huge improvement while having full height adjustment capabilities.

USA list price is 2329 V1’s and 3209 V3’s. PSS10’s list at 2995. Hopefully you are being quoted those numbers (or less).
PSS10’s use the stock top hats as well. Same boat to order new or reuse them as KW. Not sure if your price quote at $500 for V1’s over PSS10’s includes top hats? For both coil over options?
