Default 993 Turbo S Driving Lights & Air Ducts

Questions for all of you that have installed the Turbo S Driving lights & Air Ducts.

Is the positioning light usable?

Is it possible to replace it with bright white LEDs like somebody on this board did with their headlights?

If I want to get rid of my bumperettes do I have to to get the Euro clear turn signals (+ fill in the square holes) or is there another option?

Thanks.

you can use the piaa 002x to replace the positioning lights. This is a 35W light that is not useless. I'm about to do it - as i have a set for my car. The only downside is piaa discontinued this light.

A year ago, I was about to buy the standard Turbo S ducts and replace the lights with a 35 watt PIAA bulb, but I found a (slightly more expensive) set of Turbo S ducts with a 37.5 watt bulb that functions very nicely at betterbodiesmotorsport.com.

The one Turbo S ducts from MA Shaw already have a driving light installed instead of the positioning light...

Thx everyone. Looks like either MA Shaw or Betterbodies will do.

PS: I have the Catz HIDs installed, are these driving lights close to to the hue of the headlights? The stock positioning & fog lights just look like crap with the HIDs.

I replaced the posistioning lights with Pilot lights they fit snug on the back of the duct leaving about an eight of an inch from rubbing the sides. This also prevented them from getting to hot. The lights were 55W driving lights and WOW they were nice! I can look at home to get the model number if this is something you want to do. Check my pics there should be one of the S ducts on there with the Pilots. If not I can post one.

Here is a pic that may show up a little better. When I get home from the work I will post the model number. They give off a very white slightly blue light. Comparable to HID and not too blue.

Sachin
2 questions:
Do you want foglights or driving lights?
Is lighting performance or a color temp close to HID the priority?

The MA Shaw ducts (made by BW Motorsports) are wide beam, low horizon cut-off true foglights w/38W halogen bulbs. The lights used by Greg are narrow beam driving lights w/55W halogens. Completely different lighting.

Shaw/BW Turbo S ducts:

Dan,

Good questions...hopefully my answers will elicit advice on which one makes more sense.

Do you want foglights or driving lights?
I think I need Fog lights since I have the Catz HIDs installed.

Is lighting performance or a color temp close to HID the priority?
Color temp is the priority, now that I've the HIDs installed, the Fogs + positioning lights look very yellow.

I'm assuming that if I get rid of the fog lamps, and have some lights in the Turbo S ducts that come close to the HIDs, the car will look a little better at night.

Sachin
The 38W (actually 37.5W) #894 halogens used in the Shaw ducts produce light which appears dull & yellowish when compared w/the HID. There are blue tinted replacement bulbs available on-line that claim to match the HID's color temp. AFAIK, they may look brighter & HIDish to the eye, but their actual light output is reduced.

Driving lights will offer the same choice of white or blue tinted halogen, but by virtue of their more concentrated "pencil" beams, side by side they will be brighter than foglights. Which type of lighting do you prefer/need?

It's another collision of form & function.

BTW, if your only reason to change from oem fogs to turbo S ducts is the appearance of the lights, you can get HID look H3 replacement bulbs with the same trade of performance for appearance mentioned above. As an aside,in my experience the ducts do help oil & AC cooling, but do nothing for the brakes unless properly ducted.
