Default Burnt out ECU advice

Guys
Terrible times.
While trying to complete a project on the 993 - smelt burning electronics during a crank.
And the result is a cooked ECU.
Looking for someone to repair.

Any experience out there on what to check before putting a fixed ECU back and crossing fingers before starting things up again?

Thanks in advance

Definitely check all your fuses for correct size/amps and continuity. Hopefully nothing else is burnt.

How did you manage to burn an ECU while cranking the car? That’s tragic yet uncommon. What fatal mistake should we all avoid?

The burnt part is a propriety Bosch ignition coil driver semiconductor. A part not easily sourced for anyone attempting a repair.
