I have notied that after washing the car, water gets trapped under the metal trim which extends out of the rubber seal at the bottom of the rear side windows. The water can be blown out, but I am wondering if it is possible to stop it getting in there in the first place. I also wonder whther this is a potential rust trap.

Has anyone had any problems with this? Can the trim be removed easily so that, perhaps, some silicone sealent could be injected?
