Additional question: does your GR fix, making it adjustable, open the possibility of using the shorter throw setting with the Swine Eleven shift boot delete?
Medium setting and up with the Numeric shifter, the pivot position of this shifter is on a completely different plane. We worked with Numeric to produce a modified version just for their shifter, which increased clearance, but at the low position it was beyond the walls of the ReBoot so unfortunately no way to make it work in that position.

Hi

I have the RS shifter plus the golden rod

so if I read properly the feedbacks, it's a good improvement for those coming from the original / stock installation

but compared to the RS shifter + golden rod ; it's just a little improvement / not night & days ?

If you're looking for night&day experience, get a CAE shifter

More info and pictures please. Maybe start a new thread out of respect for the Numeric guys?

I had the RS Shift and the RS rod. There is a definite difference, not as much as going from stock, but it's there. I tried to take some crude measurements of the play in the lever between the RS setup and the Numeric setup by measuring the play at a fixed height. You'll see that the fore-aft play is significantly decreased and the side-to-side play is nearly eliminated. Here are the results (in mm):

I think even in this tread, the usual suspects in the market are all named and more or less valuated already. Didn't you bring CAE shifter up earlier?
You can find a little more about my initial experience with the CAE shifter here.

Bear with me that there is a slight difference to the normal 993 gearbox, but the shifting experience is pretty much similar.

waouh Gonzilla

thanks a lot for this super information

I will never go for the CAE as it totally kill the look inside

the numeric is invisible so it's perfect

I have the golden Rod.... regarding the "issue" I should keep it or not ?

I have the factory RS rod and didn't experience any issues (other than having to dremel down some of the factory welds). I'm pretty sure the goldenrod is the same thing. I know that some people have had issues, so perhaps it's a car-by-car situation.

While the CAE may have the motorsports looks/pedigree, I don't see how it can be any more direct than the Numeric unit. It also requires cutting of where the guide tube is (the shaded area in the picture below), so it's not easily reversible once it's installed.

In any event, this is what mine ended up looking like. I used a stainless steel "sleeve" that goes over the lever and has an accompanying copolymer **** from a company called "Latheworks" (no affiliation other than as a happy customer).

As for height, I think it's actually pretty close to where my **** sat before with the RS setup as the sleeve's threaded top sits above the top of the lever, and the **** sits above the threaded bit. If you need it higher, latheworks is a one-man operation so I would imagine that you may be able to get him to make the sleeve taller, thus raising the height of the ****. The most difficult part of the whole thing was getting that rubber boot over the sleeve. I tore my original one trying to do it, but I attribute that to it being 26 years old. The new fresh one stretched a bit more, but it was still not easy.

What are the steps to adjust the throw once the shifter is installed? Does the whole console need to come out again?

I can’t think of a way without the console coming out. Getting the console out is the easy part, I think.

Need to remove the entire unit again and use the other hole in the shift lever.
