Nota - Somewhat OT but did you ever take a look at the white TT in TX that was on ebay the last few weeks? Car is owned by a salesman and BIN price was $63K and it looked pretty clean with sport seats, 996TT wheels, etc. If you did check it out, I'd appreciate a PM with your thoughts on it. TIA.

David. I did not since I'm really not in the market at this time. It was absolutely gorgeous and what I'd love to buy. Made tickles in all the right places.

Nota,
I sold my 993 and just bought a really nice 996. But the back seat is not usable for a person over 5'2" or so. For a driver why not a used 1999 Lexus LS 400 or GS 400 ? You can find one with 50K miles for $25 grand and their warranty is good for 70,000 miles. Big honkin' V8, quiet, zero to 60 in about 6.3, top speed about 149, and as dependable as you can find. The dealer treats you very well even if you buy it used from a private party. I'm on my third.

Have you considered used M5's? I have had a LOT of fun with mine and they definitely have a back seat with two doors to go with it!!

You could always get an M7 aka a 2001 740i Sport! I know this sounds like a big old man's car, but it's really quite sporty. You could pick one up used with 40k miles or more for around $37k. I am in love with mine.

Just a thought. The M3 is pretty darn tight in the rear seats and may be a pain for the kids getting in and out. The 740i sport would offer them alot more room, and you could put a nice DVD in the rear headrests

To me, this is STILL sporty! Pics below:
