Question 97 C4S for $38.9K?

Any one know of this car? Imports Unlimited in Wallingford, CT is listing a 97 dark green with tan C4S with 45,000 miles for $38,900. Appears to have sports seats. Would be a great price if only.... Can be viewd at www.luxurycars.com

Default That car has FLOOD DAMAGE/JUNK title

This car also advertised on Autotrader - there it has VIN specified. If you run CARFAX with that VIN you get an answer to your question:

02/01/2004 45,361 Texas
Motor Vehicle Dept.
Houston, TX
Title #29720038011144647
New owner reported
FLOOD DAMAGE TITLE ISSUED
JUNK TITLE/CERTIFICATE ISSUED

Thanks, Alexander
Of course. Anything that appears too good to be true usally is. Case in point.
Still, I can't help but wonder what the real condition of the car is- how extensive the damage was - and the true value of the car. For the right price it still may make sense for someone.

Micron.

A car with a salvaged title, even if properly repaired or with little initial damage, takes a tremendous depreciation hit. However, if the buyer enters the transaction with good knowledge, a salvaged car can make excellent economic sense. You have to buy it VERY right, and plan on enjoying the car for a long time. The car you mentioned would normally be $45k -> $50k (sports seats are good, dark green is less popular). With a salvaged title, I'd look for more like a $15k discount.. IMHO.
