Default ? Re: Grade/Tensile strength of seat bolts

Does anyone know the grade (tensile strength) of the six bolts that attach the seat to the chassis?

I'm replacing seats and need to use an adapter plate so I need longer bolts - I want to make sure that what I purchase is equal or stronger than what was there originally.

Thanks much.

Rick,

Have you taken your seats out before? The allen bolts are soft and the heads strip easily if you're not careful. I'm living proof. I'd suggest a harder material for the bolt. And a better mechanic (me). I don't know the rating of the stock bolt but I haven't put any effort into it yet.

So, what seats are you installing?

Good luck,
chuck

"And a better mechanic (NOT me)".

sorry, my 11 year old son had a birthday party/sleep over last night. I partied with them and we stayed up all night. I'm tired.

But we had a blast.

Hi Rick:

Those bolts should be a 10.9. They must be up to handling a big load in shear.

Steve,

Thanks much - that's the info I was looking for. I'll check around and locate some suitable bolts.

Cheers,

Rick

This place has a nice selection... You can also call them if you don't see what you need on the web site..

Jeff - that's perfect; I'm traveling all week so don't have time to shop around locally.
Thanks a million.
