Cam Tower Bolts Loctite?
Finishing up a top end refresh. Noticed the workshop manual calls for "coat threads of required with loctite 574" for the 18 M8 cap screws for the cam towers to head. Is this a mistake? Seems like it would be 270 not 574, but wanted to confirm.
For the sealing surface, going with three bond 1104.

I think it meant 574 Loctite between the flat surface of the heads and bottom of the cam carriers. Definitely Loctite 270 on bolts treads.
My .02 cents.
Mind It wouldn't hurt on the treaded assembly to use Loctite 574, once the bolts torqued with 574 it won't move.

my shop manual reads coat threads with loctite 574 if required.
also reads 'replace.'
the new m8 bolts were coated with the blue colored loctite.
so my assumption is if the new bolts didn't arrive pre coated, as in purchased from mcmastercarr rather than porsche, then 574 should be used.

Thanks for the feedback. I will proceed assuming the manual is correct. Dry fitting today to check some clearances. Waiting to see what the new hardware looks like when shows up this week. Keep you posted.

New hardware arrived earlier this week. Exactly as K722070 noted, loctite is pre-applied. Only difference is that the shorter bolts supercede to a T45, while the longer ones remain a hex. Makes going through the torque sequence of 18 fasteners a huge PIA.
