I got mine from Carnewal.

It wasn't cheap. But it's OEM and you cannot go wrong with that.

It pains me how much the OEM one is but they are so much better than the MA Shaw or Getty cheapo copies (I have a MA Shaw one).

I originally bought an aftermarket one, but was disappointed with the quality. Ended up getting an OEM one and it's SO much better, worth the added expense to do it right.

I'm curious about all of the differences between the MA Shaw and the OEM as you guys have mentioned. I'm on the verge of pulling the trigger on one and the high cost of the OEM is hard to swallow without some evidence.

Any more details/pics appreciated.

I have a Getty design RS Clubsport tail. It's a perfect fit, light and has zero issues for me. As you stated it's also much less expensive, I could replace it multiple times and still save money. Everyone who has sent it assumes it's factory, and that's with it being black which is a very unforgiving color.

The aftermarket RS tails are single walled, lacking the internal walls found on the inside area (underneath the grill). If you were standing at the rear of the car and looked down through the grill and into the engine bay, you'd also see into the hollow unfinished areas inside of an aftermarket wing. The OEM RS wing has finished surfaces here instead, which makes for a much cleaner look as well as adding structural rigidity to the wing. The fitment and shape of the OEM RS wing is also perfect. The aftermarket wings have some warping and visible seams which must be shaped to fix them.

As Mr.Woolery stated (and a few extras...)

  • The MA Shaw/Getty RS spoiler is not finished in the same way as the OEM version.
    • Where the grill insert sits, the OEM version is all finished off. Air passes along a finished surface and through the grill.
    • On the cheap-o copies, this is all open and there is no finished surface, which creates two big issues in my opinion...
      • First, it looks very unsightly because you visibility see the unfinished side of the fiberglass
      • Secondly (and worse) it creates drag...
        • Air enters the inside of the spoiler and it is essentially acting like a giant cupped hand
        • the equivalent of strapping a bucket horizontally to your roof to slow you down just for fun

  • The other main issue is the fit/finish
    • OEM sits completely flush on the front edge where the spoiler sits in the engine lid and has a nice, even gap
    • MA Shaw and Getty both sit 3/8" proud of the decklid, which gives it a "humped" look. The gap is also uneven throughout.

For those reasons, I took mine off. I think they cost $700 new (plus paint). I got one used in good condition which was already painted black (old color of my car) for $500. Took it off because I just couldn't deal with the shortcomings. Decided not to paint it when I repainted the car a few months ago. The only thing it's good for is hanging it on the wall of the garage.

Well guys, mine is double walled, finished on the inside, and doesn't sit proud of the deck lid. As for being only good for hanging on a garage wall... 🙄

Apples, oranges. We're all discussing RS spoiler and you chimed in about the Clubsport wing.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the info on both wings as I'm still undecided on the RS tail vs the CS wing.
