Post BMC Filter

have been using the BMC filter in my 993 for the past 8 months. took it out to check the condition this past weekend and noticed that part of the filter's silicone edging was cut off/separated by the air filter housing. upon examination, the air filter cover has a raised edge to seal off the OEM paper filter, which has a very thin, paper edge compaired to the BMC's silicone edging.

end result... the part of the filter edging that was cut off will loose its sealing capablilites... has anyone have the same exprience?

Yes, I had two sets of the the BMC filter for my 993 that had the same problem. The original recalled K&N filter had the same problem. I have since decied to go back with the factory paper filter. Just not worth it in my opinion.

George, I too heard this and went with the factory paper unit. My main concern is where that silicone goes after it breaks off - I hope not directly into the engine?

EJ, the silicone that gets cut off remains on the outter section of the air filter cover so it would not get injested by the intake.
