Default June 5th: North vs South "rumble"

OK, this event sounds like its gathering some momentum. The date for the meet will be June 5th, a Saturday. For those folks that want to make a weekend out of it, we'll try to pick a motel or lodge, and perhaps even get a special "Rennlist" rate. We still need to pick a town near the middle. I've heard Cambria, San Luis Obispo, and Paso Robles mentioned. All are fine with me. Help choose.

To recap... the "rumble" is the first annual NorCal vs SoCal meet and drinking contest. The "team" with the most Rennlisters will get a round of drinks purchased by the losing team. We will meet at the midpoint (to be chosen soon) around noon or so. We will all need "name badges" with our Rennlist screen names, so we can finally put faces with names. All Porsches are welcome, from 914s to Cayennes (yes JoAnne, Cayennes).

A word of warning to the NorCal guys... our recent run from Malibu to Cold Spring Tavern brought out 30 Porsches (OK, one of them was one of your guys from Cupertino, but still...). You are warned. Better get a big team together. I can taste that free cold beer now.

Mark your calendars. June 5th. Be there or be square.

Max,

Aside from the thought that Porsche NA will probably sue your *** off for using their logo, that shirt is PERFECT! HWFM Racing got a small quantity of shirts printed for a reasonable cost... maybe Mike (the Grand Turtle) could help us out here. Max... you got yourself a job!

SoCal guys: well arrange "pick-up points" along the route: Orange County, Manhattan Beach, Malibu, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Pismo, San Luis Obispo. Oh yeah, a side trip to Ridgecrest. We'll need a coordinator at each point to set the meeting point and provide a cell phone number.

NorCal guys: You should pick a coordinator for your team. Viperbob would probably volunteer for that exhalted position.

Lets start a poll for the location and see where people want to go and why.. Obviously the location will need ample safe parking, good eating establishments that can accomodate a number of people, etc, etc. When voting, people should comment on why they chose their destination. Sound good? Soooo how do we start a Poll?

dont know how to start a poll? want me to do it? I should be there. meeting at the malibu pickup spot. As of now I'm going. just not 100% cause I dunno if something may come up. So count one more for the So Cal... looks like Nor. Cal. is going down. I'm sure you guys can over look the fact that I'll be half a year young to 'legally' accept the free beer...

Found it. That is the thing at the bottom that says Post Poll when creating a new thread... When all else fails,

For those of you who would rather save your money for mods than bend over for a fill up on the coast, the premium prices/gal last Sunday were $2.29 Bay Area, $2.49 SoCal, $3.19 on Hwy 1.

I figure this rise in gas prices is not such a bad thing. 100 octane at the local 76 station is still $4.19 a gallon. There is almost no difference now in filling up and driving around with 100... Always look for the silver lining...

I'm looking forward to it and willing to help coordinate if there is an initial mini-gathering in either Malibu or at Sunset & PCH to make sure everyone is accounted for before we head North.

I figure as the date approaches folks can PM or email me if they are coming (with cell phone#) and I'll just print out a list of confirmed folks to check off before we 'saddle up and move 'em out."

I know we have one local guy (911/Q45) who lives in San Luis Obispo (I already claimed him for the SoCal team, BTW). I'm hoping he'll jump in with ideas for a meeting spot. Else, I just post his address, and will all meet at his house and drink his beer. Don??????

Viperbob... will you take the lead in coordinating th NorCal contingent? Help me out here buddy... It's too much for "the doofus".
