Do all of your valves move in/out when you rotate the engine by hand? I appreciate taking the covers off again is a pain, but....it is the next easiest step in diagnosis that you can do yourself..

I'm with @orangecurry on this one. It isn't your chain tensioners. You could go down that route and replace them, one is significantly more expensive than the other. I don't recall which but I am certain it won't help. Try a mechanics stethoscope to isolate the sound to upper or lower if possible. That will help you narrow down the stuff that has to be pulled back off.

did a compression test done. The readings are pretty good I think. I hope someone can confirm that.

I'd take a close look at the valves on the cylinder at 185psi. Or do a leak down while you're in there. The leak down will show better valve integrity than the compression test. Which ones are from the left side?

That'd be cylinder #2. The sound is coming from the left side too.
