Thumbs up Immobilizer Code success update

I'm posting this seperately since some members tend to not re-read threads once they've read it once. Well I thought its worth it for you guys to know how I've done it and hopefully help members and everyone if they encounter this problem.

I have to give credit to Checkered Flag Porsche here in VA Beach for at least getting the Immobilzer code for me. The Service Mgr looked it up on the computer, and even though he wasn't sure at first if it is the right one, he gave it to me. My guess why the code was readily available in their data base is that the PO already requested it once. So tonight I went and followed the confusing procedure from the owner's manual on how to enter the code, just to verify. After several attempts to do the sequence of steps the right way, sure enough the code works. (Now, if they'll just look up some TSBs for me, they'll totally redeem themselves totally)

Good thing about it I was able to introduce a second remote to the car, so now I have a back up. If you're doing this, you have to do both your remotes right after the other in one session, because if you only introduce the new remote and finish the procedure, the system will delete your old remote from it's memory.

Thanks to all of the Rennlisters who helped me with all the info and suggestions.

Congradulations Mike!! That makes two of us in two days receiving the correct codes and programing spare remotes. I got my codes from Brandywine Porsche in Newtown Square, PA west of Philly.

Thanks Swmic! Did you program the spare remote yourself? Boy, isn't that confusing. Took me several tries to get it right.
I'll alternate the use of both remotes every 2 months to keep them in condition, I guess.

The only problem I had was trying to figure out how to lock the door without setting the alarm. Every time I would lock the door the alarm would set. I needed the remote to disable it and if I used the remote I could not get to the point where I could enter the code. The immobilizer light would not flash. What I ended up doing was putting a spare key in the door lock. I then got in the car rolled down the window and locked the doors using the center console. This would lock the doors without setting the alarm. I then reached out the window and did the unlock-lock-unlock maneuver. Once I got to his point, the rest was fairly straight forward.

I don't know if all cars/alarms work like this but this is what I had to do.

That was my initial problem too. What I did though is lock the door with the remote( i was outside the car), then unlock it with the key(horn will beep once), listen for the solenoid to kick inside the door, unlock it, listen for the solenoid again then unlock it and wait for the solenoid to kick and finally open the door and get in. I found out that if I do that sequence to fast where I did not wait for the solenoid to catch up, I end up trigerring the horn alarm. Then onto the next step of opening the door, getting in, keeping the door open, turning on the ignition until the immobilizer light to turn off after 15 sec. Then switch it off and back to on(within 5 secs) again and wait for the immobilizer light to flash. When it started flashing, thats when you enter the code.
