I got the specs back on the flywheel and pressure plate imbalance.

Flywheels were both 2 grams out of balance.

Pressure plate was a whopping 27 grams out of balance. They said they had never seen anything like this before.

Nobody in their right mind should ever buy a Sachs pressure plate again. Seeing as how myself and several people on this forum, as well as BMW forums, are experiencing this, with over 2 years of time differences, - this is clearly not an isolated quality control incident. It is systemic

Were you able to confirm if the PP was originally turned on a lathe or the surface was smoothed on a grinder?

I haven’t received the pictures yet unfortunately.

Is there a difference between those 2 things? Do you suspect one method causes more imbalance?

I know that there has been a dramatic difference in retail price between the two. But I don't know if the appearance of one surfacing type over the other is more likely to point to an imbalance in the PP itself.

Interesting, so the flywheels are ok? Sachs pressure plates not so!

993ers not the only ones finding issues recently with Sachs pressure plates.

I would think 2 grams is ok, 27 not so but thats just my take on it.

Sachs are responsible, not your supplier, but they would need the part returned to them in unmodified state to even entertain looking at it Im afraid. If I understand correctly it has now been balanced and refitted? I feel you are now relying on a gesture from the supplier towards your additional costs, I wish you all the best but fear you may just have to put it down to experience and move on. Its great you have highlighted the problem though, hopefully it will help future 993 owners!

Just seen the somewhat patronizing response you have received from the spineless owner of 911UK. He is special when it come to the trade on his site, if you advertise with him you're sorted, if you dont, you're fecked!

And if my last post needed proving, up steps the spineless one and deletes all your posts on the subject!

I have been chasing a similar vibration problem for awhile. Everything has been looked at and balanced with no resolution. I'm very curious to hear how this progresses.
Good Luck

ya he is a massive tool. Design911 stepped in and made him delete the thread too. It’s good you don’t sponsor him, you don’t need it. Word of mouth is better

while Sachs is definitely ultimately responsible, the convoluted way consumer rights work in the UK means Design911 has the liability and Sachs can completely ignore me and refer me back to design911. As an example, when I had a problem with Porsche radio, Porsche wasn’t able to solve it themselves even though they wanted to, because there was a supplier in the middle. I had to go through the supplier

I'm debating on doing a LWF. My car is in the shop right now.

Any truth to this guy?
