Default Anyone needs a bike rack for 993?

I ended up with a bike rack that I probably will never use. Since I decided to clean up the spare bedroom of assorted car stuff, I'd like to offer it for sale.
Here are a couple picks. Simple to install, very easy to use. If you're interested, please email me an offer, or I can throw it on eBay. Oh, I believe it's the same rack that Performance Products sells.

Hi Mike,

Uh, I know this is a dumb question (mine usually are), but how does the bike rack attach to the Car? And how does the bike attach to the rack?

can you carry a spare set of wheels/tires on that contraption?
Looks like a weber in the backround?

I'm interested in some details on that rack myself; my understanding is there is a modification to be made to the rear of the car to mount it? And what effect does the exhaust have on the bikes you mount there? It would work on my cab.

If anyone is interested in a more traditional Thule rack that mounts on the roof of the car (clips to the rain rails on a coupe; worked great on my 95 coupe) I have one that was barely used, would like $300 for it, includes two bike carriers and will also work for skis, snowboards, surfboards and a storage box if you buy the necessary parts from Thule.

Guys, this thing came form a PO who used it once, according to him. The receiver is a heavy piece of metal that mounts to the licence plate holes and than the plate mounts to it. See a pic below. The vertical piece than goes into teh receiver.
I have no clue how the bikes mount to it. I'm violently opposed to bikes. I think that God invented internal combustion for a reason

There appears to be no mods needed to attach this to the car. Performance Products catalog shows a picture with bikes attached: http://performanceproducts.com/Produ...producttype=20 They also say "no drilling required" and that was certaily the case on a '95 C2 cab. The nice thing I just realized is that you can buy an extra plate from them and use it on other cars as well.

Phil, I wish I could carry spare wheels on this thing - right now I have to finagle 4 race tires into a Miata for an hour's drive to every event. I think it could possibly be modified with a longer cross-bar, though, so I might look into it. I'm not sure what's in the background there. My friend let me use their garage for some of my 55 wheels, so I pay no attention to their weird lawn ornaments

Not to hijack the thread, but if anyone knows how to transport 4 extra wheels to a 993 C4S without using either a bulky roof storage box or a trailer, I'd like to know.

It is pretty easy to fit 3 of them inside the car... so I wonder if it would be possible to have a connector made that would allow one to carry one wheel externally using the mount from the bike rack (pictured in the first message of this thread). It seems like there would be many people on this site confronting this issue.

I've fit 4 wheels (Cup II 17" with S-02s mounted) in my car in large trash bags. Only catch was that I couldn't shift into 6th. The two large rears went into the back and two fronts in the passenger seat. It's tight, doable but don't know what the long term effect might be on the seats. I only had to drive four miles to my mechanic/tire installer down the road.

The rack is gone.
As for carrying tires... the best solution I've seen for my autocross car is "Tire Tail". I have seen it, a lot of my competitors use it, I'm thinking about it as well: http://www.tiretail.com/ He doesn't make it for Porsche yet, but if someone wants to volunteer...
