Fluid, actually my interior is Rubicon gray. The floor mats pictured (yellow Porsche embroidery) match perfect, but when I bought some new mats recently, they are also thin and cheap and don't match well. Basically like thin house carpet. I think maybe replacements only come in classic gray, which would explain it.

Also, some trivia..."rubicund" means having a reddish/ruddish tint. I assume it's related to the word rubicon (is that German?). Anyways, I find rubicon gray to be slightly purplish.

Max, my own code is PT. "Florentine Gray", according to 993FAQ.com. Bizzare.
But the pieces I'm describing are not from my own car.

Wasn't Rubicon the river which that Ceasar had to cross as a point of no return (declaring a war)? Boy, my history is hazy at this point.

Yes, that's true too. It's considered "the point of no return"

Or maybe it's named Rubicon gray after the town in Wisconsin (zip 53078)

Pete / Eric86Red911: Thank you both for your input. Pete, the same greenish tone has shown up with mine also. I'm not thrilled with changing to a thinner mat so I may also be looking up Strasse. I'll take a beer with me in the garage and compare them both ...

For comparison, this is Marble Gray... It's almost white.

Thanks,

Peter, that's what I have as well.
BTW, where did your mats come from? I need a pair.

This is a PO's pic on an overcast day without a flash:

Nile13,

Floormats are authentic Porsche pieces from a dealership. $125 for all four pieces if I remember correctly. Comes with the clamps to keep the front ones in place. I think you can get them cheaper online, but a couple of places I checked didn't have the color I wanted. At the time, the dealership had a set in stock.

Thanks,
Peter

My intereior is Midnight Blue, Marble Gray. Attached is photo of original blue wheel, and just replaced with CF/Metropole Blue 3 point wheel (they don't make the 3 point wheel in Midnight Blue per Gert Carnewal) Color difference in photos is due to one with flash, one without.

Lee, that's a lot of carbon build-up in the cabin.
Oh, wait, that's carbon fiber

Now I am confused because what I have always assumed to be classic gray has a very discernable red- purple undertone. I have not seen rubicon gray for comparison though.

Default New vs. Old mats

This is a bit OT, but since a few inquired about mats I took a snapshot this morning. The color of the new mat looks a bit purple in the photo, but isn't in reality.

Main pupose for posting is the noticable difference in thickness. I'm looking elsewhere (i.e. Strasse as suggested by Pete) before using the new mats.
