Sorry, it was just meant to be light ribbing. I don't have any emoticon option on Safari, or I would've used one to show that I was kidding around. I'm pretty certain OP meant his 993 is at 45,000 miles and he's just done his first oil change by himself, which is awesome. Mine's due in February.

Gents, if you read the OP's responses so far, this indeed looks like the car's (not his) 1st oil change.
That it is so unbelievable is the reason I think he's pulling our legs...

Dang you guys are too easy. I've owned the car for about 2 years - previously had the oil changed by my mechanic. I decided to DIY this time to better understand the car (I had the very generous help of a friend and fellow p-car guy). My OP was double checking my measurements, which turned out to be about right.

BTW - Swepco is in the car, not Napa Auto nonsense lol

Anyway, thanks for all the help. Cheers fellas

My mechanic just did mine and it was a full 10 quarts measured on the dipstick when hot (he knows what he is doing it’s me and my OCD over the optimal oil level which is the issue), maybe it is a little bit higher on the gauge than I would normally keep it, sort of just over half way maybe 2/3rds when hot, but 10 quarts is not out of the range. Probably will tell him to go with 9.5 next time.

BTW flame away, but she got 15w50 Mobil 1 from Walmart (and two genuine Porsche filters) and the fuel filter I forgot to hand over last year when he did plugs and a bunch of other stuff.

I always go with 10w60 or even 20w60 as I never drive in cold weather. But I also redline the car. 😈

did mine yesterday with exactly the same results. both filters, no hard lines, refilled with 9.5qts and it registers half way up the the dipstick and gauge showed just at the top of the red.

Just finished changing mine and both filters w/o removing the oil line. (So easy when you do away with the so-called "clutch breathing tube"). 9.5 qt. Brad-Penn (Now PennGrade) 15W40 with the needle at mid-point as well as the dipstick.

Place near me I emailed you a while back. Just sent the name again via email. Third (fourth?) time they did it (I am too lazy). I would tell them 9.5 quarts but I run a bit on the lower end of the gauge/stick rather than mid/high.

Next time you change the oil, you can pull the sender from the oil tank and bend it down 3/4” or so. Then the gauge is closer to the dipstick.
