I have a 98 911 cab with 35,000 miles on it. About 4 months ago I purchased new shocks and springs Bilstein's with M60?. Cardevalle is who told me what to buy. I normally drive the car to Detroit which is about 100 miles plus, one way to get work done on it. I will have to drop it off and leave it with them for f af a few days to get them installed and then I need a 4 wheel FEA. I have 3 Lexus and the local Lesus mechanic is a good friend of mine. I worked at Toyota for 14 years. He has been their top Lexus mechanic for 30 plus years. When I need work done to my Lexu's I drop them off at his house and he does everything in his garage for about a third of what the dealership would charge.
I asked him about installing the shocks and he said it would not be very difficult at all. My question is how hard is it to install new shcoks and springs front and rear on a 98 011. Is this a job that a guy with his skill level would be able to handle? I am thinking after he installs the shocks I will take it to Detroit and let them do the 4 wheel alignment
.
thanks for any info.

It's ideal to have an experienced Porsche mechanic to install shocks. However, if your friend has a very high degree of aptitude and can "wrench anything" with great skill, he'd probably be okay.

Not difficult at all to install. Setting it up properly is where the magic is. If your Lexus guy installs and a competent shop does the alignment, I don't see any issues.

I just dropped the car off at my mechanics home. I also left him the big shop manual which tells what to do etc. I went with Bilsteins 6xt with mo 30 springs?
I drive about 2000 miles a year and mostly just tool around country roads. I never track the car but do like to push it from time to time. If I recall Gert was also talking about lowering the car a little bit. How much lower should I go for my kind of driving?
