I can't believe this happened
So I thought I found a buyer for my speed yellow 993. The buyer paid to have it inspected by an independpent shop and had a compression test done and wanted his local mechanic to talk to the mechanic inspecting it. The car passed the inspection with flying colors with no problems or issues. I email the buyer to see if he had talked with his mechanic about the inspection. He had and his mechanic gave it an excellent review. However, he found a local car that he had inspected at the same time, which also passed. So he is not getting my car although he would have had he not found the local car (which I understand). So my car is still for sale. I am thinking maybe this is a sign that I should not be selling...
BTW Rick if read this, you can tell your friend the car has passed a PPI with no issues.

Sorry to hear that. Where were you last May? I was looking for a SY 993 but ended up with a GR instead! Picked it up not too far away from you in Peoria, IL from another Rennlister.
Good luck on selling the car. Looks gorgeous and appears to be priced correctly. I'm sure someone else will jump on it.

Hang in there, Brian. I used to love buying and selling cars, now I only like the buying part! ;-) The process of selling a car like this must seem endless. I felt like my search to buy the "right" 993 took forever,so I can only imagine what it is like from the other side of the process.
Your car is truly beautiful, and I will confess to perusing the ad more than once! When I was looking a year ago I initially was determined to get only Speed Yellow--you will soon find another nut like me. If a stick shift 993 would work for me right now I would be knocking on your door. :-)

I am the person Brian is referring to and I will second that his car is in excellent shape and the PPI came through perfect. I had both a mechanic in Indiana and my mechanic in California go through the results.
The problem occurred when I drove by our local Porsche consignment specialist in the bay area and lo and behold, a 98 C2S was on the market. The owner had literally been at the shop for 5 minutes as I drove by. Had the car inspected on tuesday and bought it on wednesday. If this car had not come by, I would have definitely bought Brian's car as it is in incredible shape. I originally was looking for a C2S, but could only find Tiptronics or people wanting a fortune for their cars. The one I got is in excellent condition, arena red with black interior and was reasonably priced.
Brian, thanks for all the effort and the detailed analysis of your 993.

Thanks for the encouragement Bob. I know I will find the right buyer. Heck it took me 8 months to find this car when I bought it 2 1/2 years ago.
Truthfully, I am in no hurrry to sell the car. I priced the car "fairly" (not at bargain basment price ) becuase of the condition and the history (as my PPI confirmed) and have no intention of giving it away.
I have dealt with many "tire kickers" and people who are only looking for "deals" or those who are "experts" on the Porsche market and think the car is only worth $34k and not a penny more. I don't mind dealing with these people and I take the time to explain the car in detail to everyone (maybe too much detail). I don't find any offers offensive because I know it doesn't hurt to ask. I have actually been quit amused by some of the comments people have made about prices of cars. My standard line is something along the lines that you better know these cars well because you can get what you pay for.
It was just nice to finally talk with someone who knows what they are looking at and what to buy and the appropriate price and then have the deal fall through. Disappointing becuase I was already starting to think of what to replace it with (I had told my self no dreaming until it was sold), so not a problem really. I think the guy got a very good car and is a knowledgable shopper and only wish him the best. I completely understand his situation.

I agree, Rennlist is a great place for information and that is in fact how I found out about your 993.
If anyone wants to know details of the PPI on Brian's car just let me know. My mechanic, Bob Grigsby (the best Porsche mechanic in the bay area, imho) went through the PPI with the shop in Indiana and it came through with flying colors.
