Lidatek - LE 20 install

Santa left a dual transponder Lidatek LE 20 under my tree. I've been planning out the install and was wondering what y'all thought of placing the transponders in the headlight housing itself. Right at the bottom, next to the bubble level, it looks like there is room to fit. I've taken it all apart and think I could get a clean install done.
I've got a call into the folks at Lidatek to get their opinion, but I don't see a downside. The headlight lense is virtually clear at that point, and the bottom piece isn't reflective so I don't think I'll be hurting headlight performance. It's just the highbeam anyway and it sucks so bad I hardly bother.
Am I missing something?

Just in case you didn't know what the heck a Lidatek is ( like me ), here's a link:

The Lidatek LE-20 laser transponder shown here is a reflection of the highest manufacturing standards in the industry. The LaserECHO is made in the USA from the highest quality materials, and has the smallest cross-section of any unit currently on the market.

Sorry guys...I guess I could've given some background.
Anyway, what do you think about putting the transponder in the headlight?

Seems like an ideal location since the headlights & the front license plate (if any) are generally targeted. Can't "see" how it would have much of an adverse effect on the high beams. Keep us posted on the install & the effectiveness of the system.
BTW, somehow my front plate got tilted downward so it's not attractive as a reflective target - have to fix it one day

I'm just glad that Florida doesn't have front plates...
Anyway, that should make the headlight mounting even more effective because that will definitely be the target.
I'll let you know what the manufacturer says, then post some photos if I proceed this way.

You can check prices at <a href="http://www.lidatek.com" target="_blank">Lidatek</a>.
Since it only goes for 5 seconds and has an on/off switch in the cockpit, I think the odds of the police finding it are VERY slim.
As to legality, because it is light, not radio, the FCC doesn't regulate it. Technically, I guess they could get you for "interfering with an officer.." but I think that is a stretch.
My tactic is to stay very low profile anyway,so I don't think it will be an issue. This is really just to combat the big interstate speed traps when they jump me before I have a chance to slow down.

Curtis, I too have the same system and have yet to figure out a clean and effective intalllation.
From my reading of the instructions, it seems the transponder should be no more than 18 inches from the "target". Here in Ohio that will likely be the stylish front plate. How can you be sure which headlight they will target? What effect does the glass in the headlight cover have on the transponders ability to "see" and react to the LASER? Let us know what you find out and how you finally make the hook-up.

I spoke with Andy at Lidatek who was very helpful and interested. I'm going to press forward with placing them in the headlights. There is little pattern to headlight glass at the bottom so I'll give it a shot. I'm not sure how to test this out but I'll figure something out.
Andy mentioned that this would obviously be most effective on a car with no front plate. Also, this implies a dual transponder setup.

Laser jammer? Sounds good! Here in bankrupt Tucson, AZ, the local jerk mayor named Bull**** Bob has decided to try to bail the city out of its deficit budget by performing a city wide traffic ticket blitz. Only 1 mph over the typical 30 and 35 mph speed limit in Tucson will earn you a motorcycle police citation for speeding- and they really mean business. The cops love to hide out at the bottom of any little hill and then... WHAM!
The bad newz is that the cops are all using instant on laser and whereas the Valentine always goes off, unless it is detecting backscatter, you do not have enough time to react. The cop laser has a 'rifle scope' optic which allows for very accurate targeting. This Lidatek sounds like just the 'ticket' to fight the laser onslaught!
Thanks for the heads up and the courtesy of the links for info.
