Komfort explanation.
The 993 RS came in 2.. well perhaps 3 versions. They all shared the same 993 RS basic components including engine, trans and suspension.
The differences are mostly cosmetic.
Komfort: (RS designated) the road going version. Could be ordered with the complete Porsche options except sunroof. However, the level of trim remained minimal. For instance, our car has no options. But we tried many RS's and all had AC and electric windowsand airbags. (If you want to import one to the USA, airbags are a must unless you only race it) The front lower valence is the "splitter" type and the rear spoiler is as on our car. Our car is a naked, 2 options (Recaros and lightweight tinted glass)an absolute, numbers matching original. The after market Heigo and Sabelts can be removed and the standard belts, sunvisors and the lot reinstalled. Very light too.
Club Sport: (RSC designated) the "drive it to the track model". This was our original choice but after only 2 minutes, you need earplugs coz there are no carpets, no soundproofing though it retains the original zorst. An original welded Porsche roll cage is fitted along with cloth Recaros and a 6 point harness. Inst4ead of the splitter front valence, a full with version is installed along with a two tier aft spoiler.
Racer: different front valence again and different aft spoiler. I'll see if I can post pics of both of these models. They are only small variations though and the names often get confused.
The RS is a very collectible car now as only 1014 Komfort were built plus 100 CS and 9 RSR.
Hope this answers your question

Hey Princeton,
Nice job on the diet! When you're tired of the street and ready to do some racing, your car shouldn't be too far off...
My car weighed in at 2611 with 20 gallons of fuel (about 3/4 tank), the FAST cool system, video camera, etc. I'd guess it would be down in the 2400 to 2450 lb. range "dry". I could shed the steel fenders, roof, and decklid to make it a bit lighter, but that's pretty extreme and probably not worth the expense and effort. If I ever feel that this car is holding me back, I'll reconsider.
The lexan rear and rear quarter windows will save a few pounds, maybe 30 total. You could go with the door "skins", but they don't really close all that well and may not be great if you want the car to look good, or if you need the windows. My total savings for the windows, sunroof panel, and sunroof motor was around 100 lbs., all at the top of the car.
Are you getting a full rollcage or a rollbar? If the former, 40-50 lbs. sounds very light, and I think that most are in the 100 lb. range. After seeing what happened to the guy on Sunday, I wouldn't scrimp on any safety devices, even if it means a bit more weight...
I look forward to watching your car as it gets lighter and lighter!

Princeton, I noticed you didn't mention the wheels. Did you reduce rotating mass via a wheel change?
My stock power seats and solid spoke wheels will be the first things to go.
