Default RoW M030 Spring Question

I have my new RoW M030 struts and springs and will install them next week. The question I have is that when I compare the old standard suspension spring and the new RoW M030 spring they are the same length. How will this lower the car? Does the progressive spring compress more? I check the part number and the color codes with the PET and the information on P-Car and it all indicates I have the right springs.

Maybe I’m concerned over nothing but I just don’t get it, so any input would be appreciated. Also, thin end of the spring goes on the bottom perch, right? TIA

RoW M030 Spring is on the left

Yes the front ROW M030 springs are similar in free length, but you'll notice the ROW M030 front spring is wound with tapered wire, giving a progressive spring rate, hence a lower ride height..

The rears look identical to each other, just shorter..

Rich - yes the painted bits remain at the top - thin end on the perch...

Laurier,

Notice the thinner-guage wire and tighter coils at the bottom of the RoW spring. That indicates that this part of the spring will compress under a lighter load than the upper portion of the spring. Enjoy!

I just did this a few weeks ago. My M030 springs were actually taller than the stock springs. It still lowered the front of the car about 1/2". I wanted it lower, so I relocated the thick brass spacer from the top of the "hat" that holds the spring to above the shock mount directly under the shock bolt. I was just going to take it out, but the shocks are not threaded enough to tighten the bolt. This will make sense once you take the old springs out. Good Luck.

Thanks for your advice guy’s; most of my work on cars has been limited to cleaning and annual oil changes. However, with this great forum “Is this a great place or what?”, I’m headed down the slippery slope and now have to ask all these questions to get the job done.

Last night I finally got the front M030 stabilizer bar installed which should have been enough to discourage me from continuing with the strut/springs. But noooo, I can’t stop now and will try to complete everything by this weekend (pics to follow).

Next week the complete exhaust system comes back from Jet-Hot, hopefully looking better than new (I had this done on my last 993 and it looked great). If I don’t screw it up I’ll keep you posted of my progress.

Laurier

Please let us know more about the Jet-Hot ceramic coating when you get your mufflers back. I'm very interested. Looks? Costs? Change in resonance? etc.

Thanks
