Post Having trouble removing key from ignition

I noticed that sometimes it is hard to remove the keys from the ignition. I have to push the transmission (tip) into Park hard, in order for me to remove the key.

Is this normal? Or is it a sign of some bigger problem to come?

My car is a '96 993 Targa with about 39K miles on it.

Any comments or suggestions will be much appreciated.

John,

Sounds like the "Keylock Bowden cable" needs to be adjusted.

You will have to remove the center console to access that cable at the shifter area. There is a adjustment nut you can turn to adjust for the proper shifter + cable movement to release the key.

I decided to include the below picture so you can get a better picture of what I am talking about.
