Mechanic near NYC
I have just dropped off my '98 C2S at Manhattan Motorcars to have some upgrade work done (springs, clutch etc..) and despite the fact that I live in NYC (and I know paying top dollar comes with the area code) I was wondering in any Rennlist member can suggest any reputable and less expensive mechanic near the NYC metro area. I am looking to do more mods to my car but not necessarily at $103/hr+ for labor. Any suggestions?

volpenyc,
I think some NYer's here have suggested FormulaOne in LIC. Don't have any experience with them, but the owner was a 2x PCA President. That would be the closest option in the metropolitan area. There is also ParCars and some other place that was posted on this site not too long ago in Westchester.
I know they have a website, but not sure of the address. Hopefully someone on this site can assist with that.
Goodluck!

George,
I have an apointment with Power Tech tommorow morning for corner balance and alignment. This will be my first trip there. I'll let you know how things go. I have heard good things about Cheech although a few weeks back someone posted some displeasure there.
Thanks Mike. Always nice to here something nice about a tech who's about to wrench on your car.

I'd have to reccommend Deman Motorsport in Nyack. I've heard that a couple of the best guys at Rennwerke quit and went to work for Rick Deman He's not the cheapest guy around, but he's definitely alot cheaper than $103/hr, and he's extremely meticulous about his work. Last time I was up there he had a gorgeous 906 there and I got to see those gorgeous titanium internals of it's 2.0 flat 6. He also races a 993 GT2, so I'm sure he's quite familiar with the 993 in general.

Mark (Formula Motorsports) and Cheech (Rennwerke) both do comparable work. Mark is definitely full of himself, whereas Cheech is more approachable. Cheech tends to specialize in pre-996's which is good for us on this board. He originally worked for Mark years ago. They are both outstanding in terms of quality and integrity, so the choice should be made on location, and if it matters to you, taste (I really don't mind Mark's personality!)
