^^^ Great thread. One of the posters measured 55 W across the OEM resistor. So a 200W resistor with NO heatsink (derated to 50W) wouldn't quite do. That's assuming a 25C ambient. You'll definitely need a heatsink unless you go to much higher rated power. There's a reason Porsche put a safety cutout inside the OEM resistor.

What are the collective thoughts on this as an option? (other than questionable quality and long delivery times) They would need to be mounted in the frunk and adjusted to achieve the desired low fan speed. If you search there are many variations of such DC controllers with various power ratings and features (e.g. remote switches, heat sinks, etc.) https://www.ebay.com/itm/12V-24V-DC-....c100005.m1851

Interesting thought. There is a recent posting out there by an enterprising Rennlist member who built a solid-state controller under a similar concept to this. My only thought is how does it influence the feedback wire to the CCU and will it trigger an OBD Fault?
