Post Location of Passenger Door Side Guard Beam

Saturday I attended a local PCA event at which a "Dent Doctor" demonstrated the process of removing dents the paintless way. Trust me it as truly amazing the results he got by carefully working the metal from the backside.

I asked him to fix a door ding in my 993. He was unable to get at it due to some structural metal inside the door panel that preventing getting the tools in the proper position. I did not try to disaasemble the door panel. I did make arrangements to visit his hop and try again. Perhaps I will ahve to disassemble the door beforehand.

I have searched my 993 shop manuals and there is no photo or illustration of the interior door and its crossmembers and brackets. Perhaps this is shown in a 964 or previous manual. Do any of you have any illustrations or photos of the door with the interior panels removed that might give some insight as to what is located where inside the door panel.

Thanks.

Fred,

If I recall correctly, once you follow that DIY you still willnot have access to the actual inside of the door, only the plastic sheet and outside metal shell.

Still worth a try though.

I have seen a cutaway of the 993 that shows the door beam, but I can't remember exactly where I saw it It was in a Porsche brochure, and I might have seen it the owners manual. If memory serves (it's obviously not doing very well since I can't recall where I saw the cutaway), the beam is a little higher than halfway up the door, maybe 2/3 of the way up.
