993chaz,
Are the mats from Gert the "Lloyd" maunfactured mats with the Porsche script that came with our cars originally? They would be the ones like Gabe sells, heavy weave, grommet hole and rubber backing?
If Gert has a source for these originals with the Porsche script, I will buy another set. The ones from Gabe are original, but have "911" instead of "Porsche".
Let me know. Thanks.

From what I understand they are what originally came in our cars. They are 137 euro from Gert. The ones I have currently in my car are 100% immaculate and correct Porsche mats. They are just slightly faded!! I just want things to look right. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

Just spoke with Gert, the mats are factory, heavy duty with reinforced underside, Porsche in heavy embroidered block letters, hole and poly nuts included. Only draw back is that they are 75 euros to ship, total cost being about $200.
I went ahed with them anyway. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

As posted earlier in this thread I received a new set from Gert a couple of weeks ago and the quality is great. However I have not of course seen some of the alternatives mentioned for comparison.

Following this thread, I ordered a set of the LLoyd mats and they fit perfectly. They included a new (longer shank) plastic nut. I replaced the mats myself and I am considering this a completed DIY. Order of difficulty, 1.

Just for future reference, Suncoast Porsche in Florida has a great online parts department. If you can't find your part online you can always call them. Fast shipment and great prices.

I recently bought mats from Gert. My original (1996) mats were held in by straps that go under the front seat and attach to the seat back bottom. My car does not have threaded studs welded to the floor that some have spoke of. The mats from Gert came with well designed brackets that go under the front seat bolt.
You loosen the front bolts and slip the thin bracket between the rail and the base. This bracket has a half turn plastic lock that works and looks very good. They are high quality, original Porsche with block letters.
The cost was $140 Euro ($149 American) shipping included because I bought coil overs at the same time. Also, they came with a very well fitting Allen wrench for the seat bolts.

993chaz,
I have a pair of cocomats (www.cocomats.com).
The black and gray ones look very sharp in my blue interior (the gray matches the aluminium accents, the black the trim). The mats are very, very thick and will last many years. Check them out on their website for a better idea of what they look like.
BTW: I have no affiliation to them.

Lloyds made the OEM floormats that came with your 993. When Porsche cost reduced their production process (996) they dumped Lloyds and went to a cheaper manufacturer.
The parts guy at my local Porsche said he thinks the new OEM mats are made out of recycled sodapop bottles.
You can still get the original floormats from Lloyds, but they can not put the Porsche logo on them for legal reasons.
There are two different hole patterns for 993 floormats. Some cars came with the straps (2 holes near corners) and others came with a plastic mounting screw (1 hole near the center). Lloyds has both patterns. I know this for a fact because I sent my mats (2 holes) to them for use as a pattern. BTW, the replacement mats they made matched the original color of my car perfectly.
I'm not sure what the reason is for the two patterns. It may have to do with a particular option on some cars. For example, one of the option codes for my car was 'exclusive programme' or something like that.
