Default Grey 993 in '96-'97?

Did Porsche ever make 993's (specifically the 'S' models) in some sort of gray as a stock color? I think I may of seen one or two here, but they don't appear to be very abundant compared to the other colors. I think the Aventurine Green is close under some lighting conditions.

The Seal Grey they currently have on the 996's would look gorgeous on the 993's. A very classy color, showing off the lines of the 993s beautifully. This would be my 1st choice in a C2S/C4S with Arena Red being a close 2nd.

If there are any out there, could you please post some pics of your beauties?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the quick reply Silver Bullet. Ahhh yes...I think that it was his car I used as a wallpaper and fell for. What a beauty...wonder why it's not too abundant...at least not around here.

There were no *standard* grey's and Slate grey was a $2,955 *special* color option.

Yes. Slate grey was also a standard metallic color on the 964. My '92 Carrera 2 was Slate grey.

Slate Grey is listed among the standard colors in my '95 sales brochure.

I *REALLY* wanted a slate gray turbo but the only one I've seen had a boxster red interior.

Funny - the very first 993 I looked at to buy 4 years ago was a 95 993 in Slate Grey. I was so excited to see the car, but when I got to the guy's house, the car looked kind of drab and had some bad door dings which really turned me off. I was surprised, as I thought it would look so good in person. Maybe it was because the car had a beige interior and I didn't want beige (shows the dirt so easily in the floor mat area here in the Northeast) but I was turned off by this color.

Since then, I've seen Slate Grey, particularly on Maineacs's beautiful Cab and I do like it now alot. Maybe it was the day... maybe it was the weather, maybe it was the "time of year", but the first impression for me was not liking it in person. I guess I've changed, as I just bought a dark grey metallic daily driver!

How things change...

Suwipin, beautiful! A slate grey car with black interior could well be my no.1 choice for the next car...

Thanks for the great pics guys!!

All your cars are all beauties, including the 740i! This weekend, I am slowly going to go through everyone's album if you guys don't mind.

As far as dirt goes, is Slate Grey hard to maintain (ie. black) or is it more like silver? How does it compare to an Arena Red?

I guess my search is on for a Slate Grey, but with it being a special order color I have my work or wait is cut out for me.

Thanks again for everyone's $.02 as always. I hope to you join you guys in this "fraternity" some day!
