Default Carbon Buildup and oil viscosity

I read in various threads that it is oil escaping past the exhaust guides that is causing the build-up.

I am wondering if using 15-50 oil instead of 0-40 would make a difference, as less oil would escape past the valve guides?

Hi Pete,

In threads of long past, it was the consensus that in our climate the 15/50 was a good call. I've put over 75k on my last 993 with no issues at all. You drive your car as it was intended and I doubt you will have problems. I run a can or two of Lubro Molyh's Ventil Sauber valve cleaner before oil changes too.

Good seeing you Saturday,

Bill
