Shipping a 993?
Shipping from North Carolina to SoCal. Has anyone had experience with DAS shippers? Their enclosed trucks/trailers are soft sided. They are the only company that will ship the car to me within 9 days. Most of the other shippers won't pick up the car for one week but do have solid sided trailers and some of them come highly recommended. Should I be concerned with a soft sided trailer? Thanks

I shipped 4 cars with DAS cross-country so far ! from Calif to FL, and WA to FL, that one last week!
They were always on time or arrived sooner than promised, intact! The only thing that is so-so with them sometimes is the drop off and pickup points - it is a subcontracted thing in places, and depending where you are you'll wonder where on earth you landed (Bubba's towing yard)! But I am very happy with them ! cheaper than intercity etc...

DAS game me a quote for the transport of my 993 from WA to IL, supposedly enclosed. On further questioning, I was told that it would be dropped off at the nearest hub, then trailerd on a flatbed to my door. Uh...no thanks, a door to door quote should not mean part of the way enclosed then the last 100 miles on a flatbed. That turned me away. I ended up using Concours Transport (Owner: Fred Koller), used them twice, and would do so again. Enclosed Door-Door service was cheaper and was truly enclosed all the way.
