Talking Pinging is FIXED!!!!!!!!

For those who were following my saga...My car is fixed. The pinging is gone!!!
The culprit? After many many many hours involving a process of elimination, checking/replacing/rechecking a multitude of possibilities...It turned out to be ARCING WIRES!!! they were effectively causing the spark to go to the wrong cylinder, causing a misfire and, in this case, pinging.

Kudos to my mechanic, Cheech at Rennwerke, (who really took me under his wing on this) for fixing this without charging me for the majority of the labor he put into my problem.

Also thanks to everyone here - especially Steve Weiner - for all the advice and hand-holding!!!

Now I can finally start focusing on spending my money on some mods!!!!

Was the fix re-routing the existing wires, or replacing them?

Congrats on the fix.

Believe it or not, they just needed to be re-routed. (They were all new wires, replaced by
the PO). It's astonishing what simple arcing did to the performance of the engine...

Ken,
Check out my previous thread on pinging: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...hlight=Pinging
Theres a bunch of stuff that can cause this.
other than arcing wires. Good luck. And if you get stuck, call Cheech at Rennwerke,
in Elmsford NY (Not too far from you). He can help.
