Post Supercup Exhaust Dyno Results

I am having some engine work done to my car and had a few numbers run before starting the work. The two tests I have done so far were a baseline of just the stock engine, no mods whatsoever, and a stock engine with just the fabspeed supercup exhuast added. My car is a 96 993.

Here are the results:

Stock:

Peak HP at 6,100 rpm: 282 hp
Peak Torque at 5,300 rpm: 261

With Fabspeed Supercup Exhaust:

Peak HP at 6,100 rpm: 295 hp
Peak Torque at 5,300 rpm: 270

These test were done on an engine dyno so they are as accurate as they get.

Interesting! (I should be getting supercups soon).

One interesting thing is that torque doesn't drop lower (than stock) at any rpm even though it's basically just straight pipes.

You had baffles on, right?

No I had the baffles removed, since this is a 95% track only car. I was superprised that there was not torque loss. It feels like there is a little less on the low end. Maybe there is below 3000 rpm?

Hello Bill,
How many runs did you make stock and how many with the supercups? I have seen up to a 24 hp increase between the first and third dyno runs (made one after the other) for a 964. Shop said it was typical and was due to the engine/oil heating up.

Could be that the low end is a bit smaller but that curve looks pretty good to me

Jack,

When I dyno'd my car I picked up 23HP between the first and the sixth run. I think it has more to do with the Motronic (DME) optimizing air/fuel/ignition adjustments as it learns the specific operating conditions (full throttle, engine emissions, atmospheric conditions, temps, etc.).

Jack - This was done on an engine dyno, with the engine out of the car. It is all controlled by computer through the ECU. The engine temperature, oil, air temp, etc ... are all held constant across all runs.

There were multiple runs with each configuration, until it is consistent across multiple runs.

That sounds reasonable and be sure they change yourantifreeze while they are at it.
It is guys like you that keep running the cost of Club Racing higher and higher.
