"but I'm planning on switching the seats out after track days "

Sure you are Skip!! wait untill you strip a couple of heads on the allen bolts.
If it were me, I would get a longer allen head bolt and make some shims to make getting to the bolts a little easier. I could never take the seats out without stipping at least one bolt (hello Dremmel)

After seeing those Cobra Misano's in Karim's car I'm wondering if I'd fit in them. They look pretty roomy - and absolutely beautiful!

I'd also suggest checking out the leather factory GT3 seats, which are made by Recaro. We're the same height, though you've got me beat by 15 lbs, and 2" on the chest. They are super comfortable for daily driving, and awesome at the track. I've logged well over 1,000 miles in them in a single weekend.

At 6', 185lbs, I find the Recaro Pole Positions perfect. I did not like the 993 sport seats (shoulders) and I've never tried the GT3 seats.

I've been soo close to pulling the trigger for Recaros, but the weight savings (minimal) and limiting rear access has kept me happy with my factory '95 standard seats.

With each seat (SPG and SPG Racer) coming in at around 12 lbs, brackets attached, I'd have to say the weight savings were pretty substantial.

The stock 4 way power seats weigh 47 lbs. At 70 lbs lost I have yet to do something else that has removed as much weight.

Need to check out the SPG's. I personally like the Recaro Pole Positions the best (993RS style), and I've been told that the weight savings between the Pole Positions and factory is not much at all.

Lovin' the factories, bty......

Default Try EVO 2

Sparco EVO 2's are made for us big guys. They are still a tight fit for me, but work in a 993. Sparco even have EVO 3's, but I am not sure they will fit in a 993.

Trying to sell my sport seats right now and get the PP's if they fit. Two weeks ago I sat in a SPG. Way too narrow for me. I'm 6'0 200 lbs.

Try the Momo Acropolis 2. I am 6ft 220 and they seem to leave more headroom than the EVO2 does.

I ended up with the Cobra Imola 2 GT's. At 6'2"(if I stand up straight that is) and 240something pounds (38" waist), I fit actually a tiny, little bit on the loose side, perfect for street driving and awesome for track driving. Having a small amount of wiggle room side to side isnt that bad at the track. For me it was a compromise as I knew I wouldn't be changing seat in and out all the time.

The Imola 2's are of Kevlar and fiberglass construction with fabric similar to the Sparco high-end seats. Seats are 14 or 15 lbs each and really good quality, especially for the price!!

They fit the 993 really well since they sit far back and are bolted directly to the floor for max head-room. The side dont crash into the center console and the shoulder 'wings' dont rub the door panel when the door is closed.

Let us know what you find!!

Hey Kim - That was the total with the side mount brackets (I have the
aluminum units from Speedware). Actually its also the measurement of the
larger of my two seats (SPG Racer with high bolsters and the helmet halos)
so I would assume the normal SPG would be slightly lighter.

I didn't need any adapter plates to make the Speedware sidemounts fit so
thats the entire setup for me. My seats are bolted to the frame so I don't
know what the sliders weigh.

You'll definitely fit in the Pole Position (I'm similar size as you and I have room to squirm)

EVO 2 fit my ample butt...EVO 3s are wider yet but I have heard they are a real challenge to fit into a 993. BY ample I mean 240+ Lbs of fun, 6'2"

Perhaps the real deal is to pull out the stock seats just before an event and re-install after your track day.
