Default Air bag light

Having changed my steering wheel to a 3-spoke from a 996 the air bag light, of course, now shines bright.

Is there a fix that doesn't involve code readers, scanners and PCs to extinguish it, please?

I remember when I had a 3-series BMW, in the absence of the correct reset tool, it was possible to bridge across certain pins on the socket in the engine bay and put out the service light on the dash. I just wondered if anyone had come up with a similar fix for Porsche.

It's a 1994 993.

Thanks.

Take out the light bulb is the only fix other than, you know, properly fixing it with a code reader. Your mechanic may do it for free -- many will as it takes all of 5 minutes.

PS -- as you may know, it usually requires a professional level code reader, not the cheap universal ones like mine.....

Durametric probably can't do a 1994 unless someone here has experience with this.

I guess I missed something “a 1994 993” first year wasn’t 1995?

In the USA you are correct. Elsewhere started as a 1994

Hi

I have a UK 1994 early 993 and I can tell you that Durametric will read and reset the light. Having said that you have to go in as a 964, not a 993.

Also I actually have had my airbag light on since I swapped my standard wheel for a lovely Atiwe one. Something is not right somewhere. Will fault find one nice day when I am back in the UK.
