993 slave cylinder
I have an intermittent "hanging" clutch pedal on my '95. I've read here in the past that it could be the slave cylinder. Is there any way to check this?

Well, if your clutch pedal is actually staying down, I doubt that there is another reason for it. I suggest you see your mechanic.
Also, check http://p-car.com for more info on this.

Sounds like slave cylinder - mine did the same. Good news is it's not a very expensive fix (as related to other P-car repairs) - about $200. Bite the bullet & get it fixed - it'll get worse!

If you end up needing the slave cylinder, there is a new one (for a C2 Turbo, but if you check the part numbers, it probably is the same) on ebay for something like $25

Just a quick one :
you say the pedal hangs, mainly in first gear.
If you back off the throttle slightly does the pedal then return ??
The reason I ask is that mine does exactly the same (although not just in first), and on initial investigation it looks like the pedal arm that Pete mentioned.
I plan to do mine some time soon (parts on the way) so will let you know if it fixes it.

We at ( ****** ) have stoped replacing slave cylinders for years.Do as the Factory recommends and replace the Clutch arm at the padal assembly. Never had a customer come back again for this problem.

Radar,
Sorry for the typo. There are two of us that share a computer. Tyson and Pete. Unlike some of you I do not advertise or try to sell parts that are not needed (alla Joe Fabspeed etc.). I also do not try to sell $2000.00 Oilcoolers when all they need is a #45.00 Fan resistor. Have you noticed I never mention the company I work for. That is that non of you can accuse me of using the board.I also never tell anybody how to repair a car. I only give suggestions.Did I make my self clear?
Pete.

Yes, I do understand what you are saying but where does that leave Dave? Is he another guy who shares the computer? Anyway, I don't advertise nothing on these boards. I work for a company that engineers radar equipment that detect human beings. Nothing to do with cars or Porsche's.

Radar,
Dave is one of my technicians. The only thing he is guilty of is telling some guy that if he has an early 993 to have the engine harness checked. Again he did not sell anything or tell him how to repair his car.All he is guilty of is sharing his knowledge.
Pete.

OK too much time is wasted on this thread already.
Here is the advice and just do it, and it will be fixed. (replaced the slave cylinder)
To confirm if your slave cylinder is bad, just push in the clutch pedal with the engine off and the door open see if you can hear like a clicking or metal stretching sound coming from the middle of the car near the transmission area.
Porsche have already confirmed about the bad slave cylinder used in the 993s, so there is no sense wasting anymore time second guessing.
