Default 993 C4S buying Question

First timer here.

I am very interested in buying 993 C4S. Before, or up till now, I own 2003 boxster, and I got an accident a few weeks ago. Car is in bodyshop having repairs. But in the mean while, I am scared to drive that car again. Little ice on the edge of the road did the terrible thing, and I think I need 4 wheel drive from now on.

Right now I am looking at http://platinumcarcenter.com/ and they have one 993 C4S.

So I am asking your oppinion on the price of this C4S. And furthermore, if any of you are thinking to sell yours, I am interested as well.

I hope this kind of post is acceptable for this forum.

After quite some searchs on internet, I found out that there aren't not many C4Ss out there.

So I will be glad to hear your oppinion.

Thank you

Hi j09333...sorry to hear about your accident...I hope you are ok...

The 44,900 for a C4S with 38k miles is a very good price...and obviously you can get down a couple ks below that. Its a pretty color too.

The all wheel drive is a real help on less than ideal roads...snow tires are still a must (4 of them obviously!) during the winter and as all the SUVs know as they sit spun out on the side of the road during a snow storm...the AWD doesn't make the car invincible...just more manageable during all conditions.

Its a great car...

Good luck~!

That is a gorgeous car and at a reasonable price. But it will not all prevent you from having the exact same accident as in your Boxster, if, in fact, it was caused by ice. So many people falsely believe that AWD will make it easy to stop. It does NOTHING for stopping power - only increased traction for moving and starting. The only thing that might help you in icy conditions are tire chains and that's still a big maybe.

I've never seen that color - anyone know if that's a standard color or paint to match. Good price IMO.

I got caught in less than an inch of snow this year and was barely able to move on the SO2's. Literally had to limp home - and it was a difficult limp at that.

Dedicated rims/snow tires are a must if it's an all season car - perferrably the newer Blizzak/Guardex style of tire - check www.tirerack.com - you'll have to call since they don't list a snow package for the C4s.

I have an A8 and a Lexus LX470 with that newer style of snow tire and the difference is phenomenal.

Good luck and welcome to the list.

There are many cars with "stories" out there. Do a PPI with a reputable mechanic and take it to a body shop to check whether it's been in an accident. If that comes out clean, that's definitely a good price. Good luck!

Pretty color indeed. Then again, is it fair to call a C4S 'pretty'?

Anyhow, good price if the car checks out. Get a thorough PPI.

Drive as many as you can to get a good feel for what a good one drives like.

Very good price for that car indeed.......!!! Not too mention the lower miles and '97 year.

I paid $48.9k for mine last March...with 42k on the clock.

Don't settle for any C4S just to get one......I waited a year to find EXACTLY what I wanted. Color, interior.....therefore, I wasn't bent on getting the lowest price...as long as I got what I wanted.

Good Luck...!!

Post about the same car in November. If anything it may help with the price since it's been in inventory for at least 3 1/2 months.
Good luck!

Yeah, that was me. Supposedly the car had already sold when I called. Proceed with caution here - something seems fishy. Maybe they bought it back, maybe there's something else there...

good luck,
Stef

I haven't seen that car in person but I test drove a C4 cab there a while ago which wasn't well-represented. They buy cars at auction and from dealers and don't know much about them. I was told the car had all records - all it had was the dealer book with stamps. Car also had CEL on, broken door hinge, and a a leak somewhere that caused pooling of water in the back footwell. I questioned this water issue and they told me that the car was just detailed and it was from the shampooing.... but the floor was drenched.

They seemed like your typical used car salesmen, but every car is different and this one might not be bad.

EDIT: the car I looked at is still on their site, so stay away from that one too!
