lightest 18" wheels

Its not that common here in NorCal with all of the SCARGO customers. I personally had one cracked inner and replaced both. That’s 17 years between two 993’s. Not bad IMHO.

Has anyone tracked with the relatively new 18” wheels from Fuchsfelge USA? Reportedly weighing in at a scant 18 lbs for the 18x8 and 19 lbs. for the 18x10, these are even lighter than the BBS wheels and far cheaper. Are these wheels capable of track duty?

The problem lies in the number of bolts holding the assembly together. The wider the inner rim half the greater the flex around the bolt head. When you combine aggressive camber, wide wheels and lower bolt counts the flexing takes its toll. I would consider stepping down to some 11’s if it were an ongoing problem. Some of the 5 spoke designs had higher bolt counts. Those never had problems. Joungbloed said they had a stronger inner rim half too.

BBS recommends replacing rim bolts when you R&R them. I saved old bolts from my E88s when I refurbished them but think there is no reason to keep them.

Hope it’s many years before I have to worry about my LMs.

I think the E88 or MY02 is where I am headed. I know they are way different choices but I like both for different reasons. I like the weight of the OZ's but I agree with most, they do not do it for me on the 993. The Volks are nice but (used market) close enough in cost I would rather have the BBS..... SO pretty soon I will have some twists and cup2s for sale
