One word of caution trying to get Bilstein to custom valve your shocks- I tried, and unless you know in advance what you want they are very unhelpful. I assumed they could advise settings based on what I told them I was looking for- they can't. When I asked them to, they suggested I keep to the standard valving as that is the best compromise!

I think Elephant offer a revalving service and I assume they are more helpful.

Thanks again for all the replies. Very helpful. I must admit I had no idea upgrading the bushings would be so damn expensive. I recently replaced a lot of the suspension on my B7 RS4 and I thought that was pricey. Not sure what to do at this point!

Not sure if you are handy, but assuming your ball joints are still tight, you can easily remove the control arms and refurbish them by replacing the bushings with new ones in your garage. I just did mine without a shop press with $20 of ace hardware supplies to make a DIY bushing press.

You can source the bushings from elephant or if you have time order them from Partworks.de (takes about a month to ship and clear US customs) ... Same Prekom ones the elephant and fvd sells.

I'll write up a diy article on how to do the install shortly.

I am also contemplating doing a suspension refresh this Spring when I get my 993 out of winter storage. Spirited road use only. I currently have Bilstein HDs and RoW M033 springs. The shocks are not leaking and I presume they are functioning at factory specs. I'd like better compliance with sharp impact bumps - like the ubiquitous tar strips in SE Wisconsin. My MPSS tires are old and will swap them out to MPS 4Ss as a first step. Then, I will bring the car to one or more indy air-cooled specialists and have them evaluate the ride from a comfort and compliance perspective. They can tell me at that time if any suspension components need to be freshened up and how significant an improvement in ride is attainable (whether it be available from PSS10, Moton, JRZ, MCS or other.) Lastly, I will evaluate bang-for-the buck and decide what changes, if any, I'm willing to do.

I'm going M033 ROW springs, Koni Special active shocks, new ER Bushings in Sport Hardness and M030 Front/Rear ARB's on my '98S very soon. Will drive it and eventually upgrade to RS engine mounts.

My experience with the V3s is good. I put them on in early 2018 on my 98 C2S since I had recently purchased the car and it was still on the OEM setup. Reduced ride to ROW level and did not want to go any lower since chin spoiler already scrapes too often at ROW level.

Have not tracked yet but ran the car at the PCA car control school and with some very aggressive maneuvers was really surprised at how well the car handled and stuck to the pavement. I also found that the V3s have never bottomed out on the road when hitting surprise bumps or dips, so I think the compression rate really firms up on hard compression avoiding the full range movement to the stops.

I have not done any bushing or other mods yet as I’m only at 32k miles.

No track time. The car does not feel very confidence inspiring around high speed bends and is starting to bang/crash a little over bigger bumps.

Always thought I would replace with PSS10's or V3's however am now thinking that would probably be overkill for what I need. Thinking I should just buy spring shock combo and upgrade the swaybars.

This is my current ride height and I would like to keep it the same.

What is everyones recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

Derek,

Can you tell me where you got the centercaps from?
