What about bump drafting? Would that be OK?

How about just diving them going into the turn, but not putting your nose past their front wheel. That is not a pass as I understnad it.

Wouldn't those be fun questions in the drivers' meeting?

I did the same thing but in Las Vegas back in 2001. Yup, it sure was a blast!

Awesome, Mike! We'll have to do one of these events together. You ask the questions, we'll both enjoy the reactions, then you can watch me while I get to drive while you're banished to the stands But you can take pictures of my drive!

I'm sorry, I know I'm being dull, but I have to repeat one of my favorite stories: first track weekend, I have a substitute instructor for a single session. Going down the front straight accelerating past 120mph, I can just barely hear my cell phone ring over the roar of the wind (forgot to leave the phone back in the paddock). We're fast approaching turn 1: I lean over & yell, 'Mind if I get that?'

Like I said, NO sense of humor.

Edit: you know, that was over four years ago, and I never did see that guy instruct again. It just occurred to me I might know the reason why!

You guys are funny! Bump-pass--boy the thought crossed my mind. I know the instructor doesn't know me or my driving abilities, but I was saying 'come on guy, speed it up'. Baby steps, baby steps.

there is always one guy in every drivers meeting that knows it all, isn't there. We had one guy that used his own driving suit with logo patches from every vendor and racing series possible, his helmet was painted up all slick with graphics, tinted visor the works. He had a huge patch sewn on his thigh that said 'NEVER LIFT'. He kinda acted like he wasn't listening to the orientation, you know, he knows it all already. I thought he was one of the instructors, NOT.

Anyhow, my lap time report:

Wow, you were doing great on lap one, what happened?

Sounds like a lot of fun, and even if you did go kind of fast for HWFM, the whole program seems turtle-friendly since you HAVE to be slower than the instructor.
