Default Inner Tie Rod Removal

Hi folks,

Starting the list of projects this month, and on the list is replacing the tie rods. I’ve got the others unleashed, but cannot get a wrench around the inner bolt. All the pictures appear to have the bolt easily accessible, but mine are buried inside a bracket.

For those that have run across this, did you need an inner tie rod removal tool? Or does that entire bracket need to be removed to get these buggers off?

I’ve attached a picture that indicates what I’m seeing.

Thanks I’m advance!
Jordan

Jordan, If I am not mistaken you need to turn your steering wheel to one side or the other.....to gain access

Best,
Paul

Ha! Well that wasn’t mentioned in the book. Pretty logical when I think about it!

Thank you both, Paul, looks like it will be Sebro Tuesday!

Yes, turn the wheel. Use care with the two wrenches to not put any twisting force or the rack's shaft. Also, the fat washer like stop that is held in place by the inside tie rod threaded end has differing faces so make note of what way it faces when you remove it.

Excellent tips Andy, thanks for the pointer!

The new tie rods are on the car! Slowly but surely...
