Where do I store my jack?
Mine came sitting in the middle of the spare tire. If the air compressor is supposed to be in the spare where does the toolkit and jack live?
thanks for helping a new guy!! |

My jack and tool kit live in the cavity in front of the spare tire.

Mine too. There are two velcro straps for attaching them to the cover.

The cavity with the elastic straps in front of the spare tire is for the first aid kit ???

My jack, compressor and two tool rolls sit in my spare. As 356Downunder said the elastic straps are for the first aid kit.

Perhaps a timely reminder for some newer to 993's or the Forum re: the jack.
It is poorly made, unsafe on anything but a perfectly flat, smooth surface, and even then a compromise. But, its small size fits well within the spare or around it. Other scissors jacks, which many of us wisely get, are routinely larger, taking up more space. A worthy trade off.... Same for the air compressor. Looks good, but other units better. |
More importantly, it may be best to swap out the single foot jack that came with our cars with a basic aftermarket scissor jack as the original only works somewhat safely on perfectly flat, level, and hard pavement. Murphy says this is never available at the side of the road when you need it.
1.5 Ton jack or 2.5 Ton jack Andy |
My car never came with a jack, which should have looked like this?

That POS oem jack is rightfully called the widowmaker.
I replaced mine with a 944 jack like this one. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911...0AAOSw3tddvPGi . https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...1ea483996.jpeg |
I purchased a 996/986 emergency jack and storage assembly like this https://specializedgerman.com/1999-p...-jack-tool-kit for my C4. Fits nicely in the spare wheel and has enough room around the foam to store the kit factory tool kit, a few additional hand tools, and a small air pump. I also use the spot meant for the first aid kit to store a can of fix-a-flat.
