Default They had started the work and want to only sell a car without stories and problems...

I want to be able to go back to them and have them correct any problems that come up over the next 60 days. Is the $44,500 a good price?

Well, $44.5K would be a good price but you are in fact paying $51.5K plus know that you will need a new suspension as well.

Default to clairify The dealer is doing all the work and charging me $44.5K. Also, ...

why at 31,000 miles will it need a new suspension? Thanks for your help.

Stock shocks don't go for very long and are usually shot at 20K. You'll likely want to lower it too.

$44.5 is a good price then. New shocks will run you $2-3K depending on what you go with. Good luck.

Where did you get the red seat belts? Is it Arena Red? Was it a DIY? Was it difficult?

Is it $44.5 with the dealership paying for the repairs or is it $44.5 with you paying $7,000 in repairs?

Angry Well, the end of the story...

After detailed inspection I determined that the rear quarter and front bumper were repainted. I held to my price and the dealer sold the car to someone else for $45,900. I must keep on hunting.

There is NO shortgage of people willing to pay for a MINT example. I spent 8 months looking for a car that met my standards before I found mine. Price was a secondary consideration
I agree with DC.

Bottom line is how bad do you want it and how bad does the seller want to part with it. If the seller is in a strong position relative to the condition and the options on his car he may just tell you to go ahead and find another like his for less money if that will make you happy.

How did that dealer calculate $7k in repairs? That's a ripoff!

I paid $45K a year ago for my '98 C2S 6 speed with 45,000 miles. It was lightly optioned (LSD, Two sets of 17" cups, Hifi, couple of other items) but had been VERY well taken care of by the prior owner. It went through a complete 45,000 mile service including shocks and belts just prior to purchase. I'm still not sure whether I did well or not, but the car spoke to me and that made it worth it.

It's hard to be sure these days... I keep seeing posts from people saying they got theirs for $20 or some ridiculously low price.
