For amateurs like me, I highly recommend the book "Porsche 911 Story" by Paul Frere(N/A). It has all the development stories of the M64 05 engine and the G50 gearbox. This book goes in detail that It made me cautious doing mods because all the engineering to match components they all do at the factory.

Anyways, highly recommended. Tremendous amount of information about our 993s.

I got a copy from Amazon immediately upon buying the TT. It's a great book.

Great book!

Let me add a few:

Excellence was Expected by Karl Ludvigsen
Porsche 911 Performance Handbook (Performance Handbook Series) by Bruce Anderson
Porsche High-Performance Driving Handbook by Vic Elford
Going Faster! Mastering the Art of Race Driving by Carl Lopez, Danny Sullivan

First book I bought was Porsche 911: Buyer's Guide by Randy Leffingwell... looking back at it, it really does not go into the level of detail of the other listed here but it was a great start for understanding the different models Porsche produced...

Recently published and highly recommended is also:

Porsche: The Road from Zuffenhausen by Dennis Adler

a beautiful and highly informative book covering all the models, including the race cars, and officially endorsed by Porsche.
