Oh and you're probably one of the best story-tellers on this board... Excellent write-up, I totally enjoyed reading it (put smile on my face too)

We'll see about tent fitting when it gets there. As of today it's in Boise, Idaho ! Here's hoping it beats the 15 days estimate ;-)

great write-up as usual! Love your Bozo adventures!!
How is your wife doing?
Glad to see you got a P-car! I would love to have a 356! Or a 550 spyder kit would be fun as well..
glad to see you are back!!

She's fine thanks ! final diagnostic was a pinched nerve between some cervical discs caused by a muscle spasm, itself caused by stress.. she can quit anyday now, but still has not... Hard-headed ;-)

Congratualtions. I remember that car back when (I think) another lister posted about it. Funny how a couple of months later, if memory serves me, you ended up with it. Not "ha ha" funny but "wow, see how life works sometimes" funny. Away it looks fantastic, I loved the story. Good luck.

Awesome story. I'm sure I missed something, but why did you sell your 993 and then buy another 356? I LOVE the look of the 356, but it seems like a car like that would be wanting in the speed, comfort, and the A/C dept if that is your ONLY Porsche. It sure will turn heads faster than any ole 993, though!!!
I love the 356 Cabs alot too...

Oh, a gazillion reasons... I was not entirely comfortable with $36K into one car, especially when I was pissed off at mistakes made by my mortgage company and owed about that amount to pay off my house, which would in turn allow my wife to quit work if she wanted to...
That and I figured I could always get another 993 later, cheaper... The 356 was cheap in comparison and we also sold another toy that made it possible to both pay off the house and get another project, sooooo.... Call me crazy but I think 356s, especially pre-B and Cs are getting harder and harder to find. Plus, I missed the one I sold last year, I loved to tinker with that car as a hobby and they need constant attention. They also draw smiles from people, not envy - not that I cared about that with modern porsches I owned in the past, but it's kinda cool to drive something rare and make people's heads turn once in a while!
Then there's that thing about having more fun driving a slow car fast than a fast car slow - and I could not drive the 993 slow which sooner or later would have landed me in jail or in a wall at sebring ;-) With a 356 I have fun at 45 mph ;-) I do miss the raw power, sure, but I can wait a bit.
Insurance? $190 per year !
Last, given the choice, with 993 money, I'd rather own a 356+ an old 911 and spare change, I am a pack rat, I'd love to have a mini collection...
Don't get this Bozo wrong, I am still a firm believer the 993's the prettiest 911 out there - if a bit let down by the circa 80s interior, and I am pretty sure I'll have a C2S in the not too distant future, when they've depreciated some more ;-) For now, been there, owned one, enjoyed it. I can revisit that later, I am happy I did it !

Thanks for the excellent response. You're right - you can always buy a C2S for less in the future, and the classic beauty of a 356 is a neck snapping crowd pleaser for sure! Drive it in good health.
You're a lucky man to have your priorities so firmly in place. the 356 - what's NOT to love?!
