Question Evolution 993 Restyle

Anyone tried out this conversion?

It really seems to clean up the intrusive join lines on the 993 turbo. Some of the parts (particularly the rear spoiler) looked like they've been tacked on. It's about the only thing that I don't like about the 993 turbo. It has always looked a little ungainly next to a 993RS. This conversion from Stuttgart connection in the UK seems to sort all of those aesthetic failings.

I like this spoiler very much as it looks like the RS wing and is more understated. As the RS wing will not fit over the intercoolers, this may be a great alternative, especially for a narrow 993.
How much is this? Do they make anything else that is unique? Do they sell in the US?

Much better than stock wing and spoiler... but I can't afford it right now. Bulk purchase discount Rob?

Well found BTW. (Have you got the RSR's back from Gert yet? Any thoughts now they're on the TT?)

Best, W

Consider me interested in a group purchase. That is the nicest looking rear spoiler I have seen on a 993 so far.

I have just shot off some questions to Stuttgart re the material it is fabricated from, the nett weight difference to the car, the price, etc.

I will post the answers if/when I receive a reply

I just received a reply from Stuttgart UK re the Evolution 993 spoiler. Here are some extracts:

- The rear spoiler is £996.00 + vat
- The part is constructed in glass fibre. At a higher cost it can be made in carbon but we do not consider this necessary as the glass fibre version is made superbly evenly, without excess material.
- You get the spoiler/engine lid, as a single part. All inner/outer grille and mounting parts can be transferred from the 993 turbo spoiler. If you are not using it on this car then you need to purchase these original parts from Porsche.

Unfortunately, they could not supply a weight saving. I will press them for the weight of the spoiler itself. Maybe someone already knows the weight of the standard engine lid and spoiler and lifting mechanism?

If people are genuinely interested in a group buy, I will be happy to try and arrange something!

thank you for raising this topic again.
questions:
1- what is the OEM rear deck/spoilers made of?
2- can we get dimensions of this better looking spoiler?
3- does fibreglass look as good and age well ?
4- will it fit a narrow 993. Im thinking of this for a narrow-body 993 - i.e. if i do the turbo conversion on my narrow993 i wanted a spoiler that looked similar to the RS spoiler but would still clear the intercoolers.
5- what is cost to ship to Newyork?

Rob,

I quote this from their site :

"As well as the biturbo and wide-body S cars these two refined developments are suitable for the narrow-bodied 993 Carrera."

I have no idea what the rear decklid / spoiler of the 993TT weighs, but it is made of some sort of plastic (it could be fiber glass). It is very light, so I doubt there would be any significant weight savings with this modified lid.

Hmm I saw this wing the other day on eBay. Same one? I'll try to contact the owner & get some details...

EricB,

Sorry, that is no the same spoiler.

Compare with the Stuttgart Evolution 993 spoiler at Stuttgart Evolution 993

This looks like an RS spoiler. If I were to guess, it is not factory.

EricB,

I'm foaming at the mouth, that car is so gawwwwdamn beautiful I'm speechless......the champagne centers on the wheels really make the car and the wing is a nice touch. If the owner has any more shots in a scenic area that are large I'd really appreciate it if you could either post them or email them to me privately because I need a wallpaper.

thanks,

Ahem...back to the topic at hand (Evolution 993)

I just received another email from Stuttgart, part of which is reproduced below:

"The manufacturer has replied that the rear spoiler weighs 6kg.
We don't supply body parts painted except for customers in the UK who bring
their cars to us. The spoiler is supplied in a smooth black gel coat. To
give you an idea of the quality, this part is produced for us by a company
that manufactured some of the more famous original rear spoilers for Porsche
Germany, such as the 964 3.8RS and the 993 GT2. On that point, to dispel a
common myth, the factory versions were glass fibre, not carbon."

Hope this is of interest.

Graham
